A plan to keep evil from spilling out into the world is tested…
In a world where terrifying creatures roam the night, all seventeen-year-old Mia wants is a quiet summer in safe, supernatural-free Cape Livingston. After a wrong turn into an unknown area, she learns the Cape isn’t as predictable as expected.
Mia must protect herself from the paranormal world ready to destroy her life by using everything she’s learned from the horror movies she watches.
Will her training be enough to tip the scale in her favor? Will her choice between the boy she loves or the boy determined to deliver her as a Swap be the right one? Is her future with the Monster Mirror inevitable?
I live in a world filled with paranormal creatures. They showed up almost twenty years ago. That’s when the Reveal happened.
Hollywood stopped making new horror films when the real things showed up, so I catch my supernatural education from the net’s streaming movies. “Mia,” my mom used to say a lifetime ago, “stop with all the scary movies already. Switch to rom-coms.” No way. Maybe all this interest in the supernatural was premonition and preparation for me.

What inspired you to write Monster Mirror?
I love to read paranormal stories, and the concept of Monster Mirror just came to me. There’s a strong female character, two boys that vie  for her attention, and story that’s revealed layer by layer. Some of my beta readers told me the evolution of the story was amazing.

What's your top three favorite paranormal beings?
Angels, zombies, and vampires.

What's your stand on sex in YA?
While the YA audience is expanding very quickly to include adults, I don’t feel that YA books should include anything graphic without a definite label so the reader knows what to expect. Also, a scene needs to be necessary for the story.

What's the future of Monster Mirror? (series, trilogy, saga, etc)
Monster Mirror will either be a two-book series or trilogy. I have to see where the characters take me and how quickly they can resolve their problems.

If you were stranded on a desert island, what three books would you have? E-
readers are not an option, because they would die rather quickly with no power.
Probably Jane Eyre (my all-time favorite romance novel), a book on survival, and
a cookbook featuring recipes for the stuff found on the island.

If Monster Mirror was adopted into a motion picture would it be a soap opera,
prime time weekly show, cable show, or big screen only?
I think Monster Mirror would be a big-screen movie. There are a lot of visual effects and descriptions
that would call for a big budget.

Tell us your dream cast.
Mia: Jennifer Lawrence.
Aiden: Darren Criss
Valryk: Liam Hemsworth

What 5 songs would be on the musical soundtrack for Monster Mirror?
Radioactive by Imagine Dragons, Madness by Muse, Every Day is Halloween by Ministry, I Will Not Bow by Breaking Benjamin, and Satellite Heart by Anya Marine.

We love fashion here, so tell us a little about Mia's style. (Hair, clothes, shoes,
etc)
Mia is a big fan of horror movies and knows just about every object that can protect against the supernatural. She buys a jacket with lots of zipped compartments and fills each pocket with protective objects. She wears the jacket to protect against both worldly and otherworldly dangers.

The new multi-pocketed jacket slipped heavily over my shoulders, every
compartment filled with all the natural and supernatural protection possible. Heavy
against my waist, a few assorted silver knives were buckled to my belt next to an
incandescent flashlight.
My prize was a verbena and concentrated garlic oil vial around my neck.
Hopefully the little bottle wouldn’t break and open up all over my shirt. If I was going to
die, at least I’d like to smell decent.
