Happy Saturday!  I'm so glad you could join us this morning on day 3 of Novel Fashion Week .  This hour's designer is House of Nicky Wells presenting her Collection: A peek in the Wardrobe of a Rock Chick,  by way of Australia!

Novel Fashion Week- day 3
The Collection:
Hi! I’m Sophie Penhalligan, leading lady in the Rock Star Romance Trilogy by my fabulous rock-chick author, Nicky Wells. The story of my romance with Dan Hunter, rock star extraordinaire and lead singer of legendary rock band, Tuscq, starts in Sophie’s Turn and continues in Sophie’s Run. And this coming September, it’ll conclude in Sophie’s Encore.
Sophie's Turn (Rock Star Romance, #1)Sophie's Run (Rock Star Romance, #2)
I am a terminal rock chick. I’m in love with a rock star, and have been since I was a teenager. But I’m not your typical rocker girl, at least not in the fashion department.
You see, black isn’t really my color. I’m a vivacious, flamboyant kind of girl and it shows in my wardrobe ~ although my best friend Rachel, who’s a very exotic dresser, would probably fall about laughing at this assessment. Anyway, Nicky (my author) sent me here to show off some of my outfits, so here goes.

Let me talk you through these outfits a little. On the left, I’m showing you my favorite gigging outfit. It’s a dark-blue top covered in sequins and I team it with my dark skinny jeans (shown) or occasionally a faded, ripped pair of jeans. Most of the time I wear my cowboy boots with this outfit, or sometimes my clunky purple patent boots (both shown in the photos below). It’s something quite similar to what I wore the first time I went to see Tuscq after years and years. I ended up backstage, then, and this was what set the whole chain of events in motion:

I blame the sequins for my surprisingly forward behavior!

In the middle photo you can see one of my touring outfits. For yes, a little while after that fateful reunion gig, I ended up going on tour with Tuscq. Uh-huh, that’s right. The band, and I, on a bus, together. Well, and the occasional plane. You can read all about it in Sophie’s Turn! We toured all over Europe and I took lots of semi-glamorous, practical clothes with me. Something that said ‘rock chick’ but also allowed me to remain…well…um…professional. I was the journalist on duty after all! So this outfit here, shown in the middle, is one of my favorites. It’s a simple white sleeveless top with some sparkly detail on the neckline. I often wear a jeans jacket with it, which I like to dress up with a fabulous scarf (I have a huge collection of scarves!). These tops go well with dark-blue boot-cut jeans as shown, or occasionally even a skirt. On a travelling day, I’d probably wear cowboy boots for comfort, but if I have to look a bit more glamorous, I’ll slip on my silver heels (shown below).

Last but not least, I have acquired a whole wardrobe of evening wear since I’ve been…since I’ve known Dan, and on the right, you can see one of his favorite dresses of mine. He bought it for me and he has a very special look in his eyes when I wear it. I love how the fabric shimmers and changes hue when I move ~ seriously, it goes anything from dark lilac to nearly white, it’s fabulous!
So then, shoes and stuff. Of course  I’ve brought some accessories. Every girl needs them, and rock chicks need them especially! While I’m not massively into my jewelry, I do have some fab bangles and necklaces.

My favorite bangle is the big silver one in the middle. I got it in an arty shop in Notting Hill and it feels great around my wrist. Although it’s a bit heavy to wear during a gig! As for shoes… well, I do have a fairly impressive selection. Evidently my pride and joy are the cowboy boots, as mentioned previously, and they come to almost every gig with me! The silver heels go really nicely with my lilac dress, and the shiny purple patent leather boots dress up my touring outfits or, on occasions, my gigging outfits.

And that’s a glimpse of my wardrobe. I have to go now but I’ll leave you with this anecdote from Sophie’s Run where Dan takes me dress shopping…and tries on something himeslf. If you’re a fashion aficionado, you’ll enjoy this very much… I hope. Bye for now, and rock on! I hope to meet you really soon..

Slapper? Slut? Adulteress? Sophie Penhalligan's life and moral universe is turned upside down when rock star Dan proposes to her in full knowledge that she is already engaged. She has always loved Dan, in a remote-crush kind of way. She thinks she loves her fiancé, Tim. What is she to do?
It's all happening because her past has come to tempt her. Nine years ago, she met her teenage idol and rock star extraordinaire, Dan Hunter, up close and personal. Well, almost!
Now Dan has crash-landed back in her life just as Sophie is happily embroiled in a relationship with Tim, her boyfriend of two years. Until recently, she was confident Tim would eventually propose. But while his persistent inaction is beginning to cast a cloud over their relationship, Dan's sudden reappearance poses a whole new dilemma.
Having accompanied Dan's band to Paris, Sophie suddenly finds herself engaged to Dan while her erstwhile fiancé Tim is... well, doing whatever it is Tim does back in London. Torn between the dream-come-true and the sensible-thing-to-do, Sophie concludes her inadvertent journey of self-discovery with an ending that surprises herself, and everyone around her.
Sophie's Turn is a glamorous contemporary fairy tale that will make chick-lit and romance lovers laugh, cry and rock along every step of the way.

    1. Hiya! So glad you enjoyed these posts. Jeans and black tops sound just like my kind of thing too. I had a whole range of black tops at one time to go to rock gigs and such like, not all as sparkly as Sophie's perhaps, but certainly slinky and practical. Ah, this brings back memories! Thanks for commenting. :-)
