Sometimes, one dark moment is all it takes to turn your world black...
For 24-year old Dominic Kinkaide, that moment took place on the night of his high school graduation. One dark incident changed him forever. He's a hardened actor now, famous in the eyes of the world, but tortured in his own. He doesn't care about much of anything, except for losing himself in the roles that he plays.
23-year old Jacey Vincent doesn't realize how much her father's indifference has affected her. She is proof that sometimes it isn't one specific moment that wrecks a person, but rather it's an absence of moments. She's like a bird with a broken wing-strong yet fragile, as she tries to float through life, finding acceptance in the arms of random guys, one after the other... to fill the void that her father left in her.
Until she meets Dominic.
After jaded Dominic and strong-willed Jacey are thrown together, his secret and her issues create a dark and damaged energy that will soon turn their attraction to each other into an explosive storm.
Even though when the clouds have cleared and the dust has settled, both of them are almost obliterated... they've learned a priceless lesson.
Sometimes, before we fall... we fly

I recieved this book From Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!

Before we fall is book 3 in Courtney Cole's beautifully broken series. When I started this book I had NO idea it was part of a series. With that said it stood wonderfully as a standalone. I liked that a lot.

It took me a long time to get into this novel.  I am not big on erotica or bdsm or just too much sex in a book to begin with. I like more of a story than feeling like I'm reading a porn novel and at times that's exactly how I felt.  I even told my husband I felt like a creeper reading this book it was so vivid and detailed. Which some may like it just wasn't for me.

Now Dominick Kinkaide was creeper in my eyes and not a very good hero. I found his character to be VERY disturbing. He got off to watching other people have sex and other people getting off. I mean standing on your terrace watching another couple have sex when they don't know your watching is kinda creeper status. They did put themselves out there doing it in public but that just again wasn't my cup of tea and something I definitely didn't want to see out of my hero.

Jacey!!! Oh Jacey Vincent is a doll! I loved her everything about her. I love that she had a hard past and struggles a lot but she ALWAYS came out on top and took control of her life.  Plus she was a badass!

I absolutely love the story line of this book and ther is even a freaking badass twist in this book. Something I wasn't even expecting. freaking knocked me for a good loop.  BUT it took me a loong time I would say almost 200 pages in to start really enjoying this story.

Dominick was whiny, arrogant, and way too back and forth with himself. I kinda felt like he was the heroine and Jacey was out hero. Ya I went there!
Once you get through that first half of the book though it really is a great read! The sex calms down and isnt constant and freaky. You actually get the real storyline. Now there is a part in the end I'm not too sure how I felt about it. Cole kinda brings in a paranormal entity like situation and its way too Nicholas Sparks Safe Haven for me. Kinda messed up the end for me, but in a way it did work. But I if really wasn't necessary.

All in all this a good read like I said you have to get through the wild and crazy sex scenes and all of Dominick's whining but once you get passed it the story is great! I will be going back to read the other novels and I cannot Wait for  Sweet Brands story :)

  1. Oh sigh, I would have very mixed feelings about this one also. I don't care for a weak pervy male lead. Ugghh, I'm with you on that one. I am however very curious about that paranormal twist at the end. It would only work with the author palns to elaborate more on it in the sequel.

    1. Its a weird ending. Its almost like Safe Haven if you have read that one then you'll know. It wasnt bad it was just different. I know the next novel will be about Brand so I dont even think they will be in it, if so just minor characters. I want to explain the ending without givin spoliers. Ill say this, it has to do with a spirit/ghost of someone!

  3. I'm not into the crazy sex or pervy stuff either. But some of these novels do have very good stories at times at the core. Good to know this one falls in that category.
