For 17-year-old Emma Wong, spending a summer in England should be a dream come true. Gorgeous scenery? Check. Lots of hot guys with accents? Yes, please.
Throw in an estranged mom, annoying new step dad, and drooling baby half-brother, and it's a disaster even her favorite cherry red leather jacket can't fix. Even worse, there's (hot) live-in research assistant Josh to contend with. The only thing more embarrassing than drunk-kissing him hours after they meet? Knowing he'll be witness to her family's dysfunction all. summer. long.
But when Emma meets a mysterious girl who happens to be a Druid, her vacation suddenly promises to be far more intriguing than she anticipated. Powerful rituals, new friends, an intoxicating sense of freedom...and Simon, the sexy foreign stranger she was hoping for. It's all a perfect distraction from dirty diapers and awkward family dinners.
Trouble is, intriguing doesn't often mean simple. And Emma is about to discover just how not simple her life really is.
By Blood is a novel about the ways that blood can bind us to others - or tear us apart.

By Blood is a book I had never heard of until I started scanning Netgalley for some new novels. Guilty. But I am so glad I ended up running into this little charm of a book.

Emma is your typical 17 yr old girl, with your not so typical family situation (no spoilers). Her father ends up sending her to England for the summer to be with her mom whom she does NOT get along with. On top of that she is stuck taking care of "Vermin" her little half- brother.

One day Emma ends up taking Vermin for a little stroll and some sightseeing.
She meets this girl named Ashley who takes her to an awesome vegetarian restaurant and introduces her to a friend named Simon. After they leave Ashley tells Emma she is a Druid! And OMG after that moment there is not a single dull moment in the book. The characters are SO well developed it felt like I knew each and everyone of them personally. Simon was masterfully created. He is that Charming guy next door but you know something is off about him. Josh is that sweet boy that you hope Emma goes for because he is just developed into this VERY like able nice guy, where Simon is more of a mystery and your sexy bad boy.
One of my favorite things is this novel is wrapped up beautifully with no loose strings.

I was very interested in Druids after reading this novel. I did some research and came up VERY short because in history they covered their tracks well.
This is Not your typical YA book. I love and appreciate the uniqueness of this book.

I will be checking out more from Tracy E. Banghart
