***SPOILER ALERT*** Please note if you have not read all of the books to this point you could encounter some SPOILERS.
We got a glimpse of Nick's secret and struggle in Breathless (Book #2.5). Nick is attracted to guys not girls. This bothers him because he feels that he will be disappointing his brothers if he comes out and tells them he is gay. He also is struggling to understand that he is gay. It is Nick's attraction to Quinn's dance partner, Adam that really has Nick in a tailspin. Nick is trying to deny his attraction to Adam but after that 1st kiss and Quinn knowing his secret does he try to explore the relationship/friendship with Adam a little more. Nick is trying to understand everything with Adam and he is also struggling with the realization that he is gay.
I really liked the way the Brigid Kemmerer portrayed the struggle that Nick is going through. You feel bad for Nick. At times I was screaming at the character to just say it and free himself from the internal struggle and stress he was putting himself through.
Nick's main concern was the way that his twin Gabriel would react to this news. Gabriel has made some comments on the subject and has made it known he is not to much of a supporter on the matter. But what Nick does not understand is that Gabriel loves he dearly and would give his life to protect any of his brothers and that Gabriel will come to terms with this discovery and deal with it as best he can.
Even though this story focuses on Nick, there is a lot of information on Tyler and Quinn as well. We get a closer look into Quinn's home life. We begin to understand her struggle as well. We see why Quinn needs to be loved and her fight to defend herself. We see why she pushes people away.
The relationship between Quinn and Tyler starts developing and you know this is going to be a disaster. The fact that Tyler has been a complete bully to Nick and the enemy of the brothers since Tyler's sister was killed. Tyler has an internal struggle as well and his secret will be revealed in this part of the story as well.
I am still very much in love with this series and see there will be a Book #5, very excited to see what happens next with these characters.
