Fashion Do's and Don'ts of the Underworld A guide by Cassandra

The Underworld is a great place for fashion conscious souls. With the ability to imagine your wardrobe into existence and styles across time, the sky is the limit.

Well, the metaphorical sky. Ours is an illusion since we're, you know, in the UNDER world.

But with unlimited choices come limitless consequences. There are some things that just do not work.

Do: Go classic. Don't: Go Drastic

Remember, just because you can't die again, don't mean you can't feel pain. And our benevolent rulers are not fans of self-pain. (In all seriousness, if you inspire Hades to launch into one of his feel-good, self-help lectures I WILL find you and make your life a living hell. That's very doable here.) So work that renaissance dress or those teeny tiny shoes. But let's leave tight-lacing and foot binding in the past where they belong.

Do: Mix and Match Don't: Be a dick about it

I have seen some amazing style combinations in my time in the Underworld. You name it, I've seen it. However, remember that souls across time and culture live down here, so do be respectful. Something you may only see as a fashion accessory may have a deep meaning to the Ancient-Mesopotamian next-door. When in doubt, ask. And as a general rule of thumb, avoid religious-iconography you are not familiar with.

Do: Use your imagination. Don't: Let your mind wander

This is for your own good. The whole imagining your clothes into existence thing is awesome. But until you've had a few centuries of practice, imagine them on to a hanger and make them physical BEFORE you get dressed as opposed to making changes to an outfit you're wearing. There are very talented souls who can adjust length, fit, and color right on the body. They've been dead a LONG time, so chances are you're not one of them. If you often let your mind wander when checking out a guy or gal, or if you have that dream where you end up standing in front of a crowd naked, maybe stick to picking up your clothes from one of our awesome shops in Asphodel. I promise if you can imagine it, they've got it.

Do: Experiment. Don't: Forget yourself

Have a blast! Try different looks! Wear something you'd never dared to wear before back when your mom could actually kill you. But your clothes are a reflection of your personality, your choices, your likes and dislikes, your comforts and compromises. And yes, you will evolve and change and that's okay. It's healthy even! But don't forget yourself because you've got a long afterlife ahead of you, and if you don't remember who you were, who will?

There are worse things than death, worse people too

The “talk” was bad enough, but how many teens get told that they’re a goddess? When her mom tells her, Persephone is sure her mother has lost her mind. It isn’t until Boreas, the god of winter, tries to abduct her that she realizes her mother was telling the truth. Hades rescues her, and in order to safely bring Persephone to the Underworld he marks her as his bride. But Boreas will stop at nothing to get Persephone. Despite her growing feelings for Hades, Persephone wants to return to the living realm. Persephone must find a way to defeat Boreas and reclaim her life.
