After the only girl he ever loved told him he would never be enough, Rowdy St. James knocked the Texas dust off his boots and decided he was going to do everything in his power to live up to his nickname. Life was all about a good time, good friends and never taking much too seriously. Rowdy learned his lesson early on, when you care that much about anything it can destroy you, and he never wants to risk feeling like that again. Only now he has a new coworker, a ghost from the past who’s making him question every lesson he ever learned.
Salem Cruz grew up in a house with too many rules, too many regulations, and no fun allowed. That never worked for her so she left it all behind as soon as she could, but she never forgot the sweet, blue-eyed boy next door who’d been in love with her little sister. Fate and good intentions from an old friend have placed her right in Rowdy’s path and she’s determined to show him he picked the wrong sister all those years ago. A mission that is going along perfectly until the one person that ties them together shows up and could very well tear them back.
Why is Salem back and what was Rowdy really feeling for her if it hurt this bad when she left him. Rowdy had been in love with Poppy (Salem's younger sister) since he moved in next door to them but was it really the love he thinks it is. Rowdy never doubted his love for Poppy until now. Salem has him tied in knots.
Salem left Las Vegas for a great job opportunity at Marked. She moved all the way to Colorado. But what was the determining factor in taking the awesome job, ROWDY. Salem looked up the shop and saw Rowdy and knew her destiny was in Colorado. She loved him all those years ago but with the age difference nothing but friendship happened between them. Now Salem is all grown up and wants to get to know all grown up Rowdy.
Poppy has her own set of issues and has no interest in a romantic thing with Rowdy. Poppy told Rowdy this several years ago and broke his heart all over again. The question is can Salem look past Rowdy's misplaced love for her sister and give Rowdy a chance to be more than a friend. She did come all the way to Colorado.
Rowdy and Salem give it a chance and we can only hope that Salem's insecurities about Poppy don't cloud her judgement of Rowdy and his love for her.
And there is something brewing with Royal and Asa. Nothing is revealed but you can feel the attraction between the characters. That should be a good read.
