Since birth, Nyx has been betrothed to the evil ruler of her kingdom-all because of a foolish bargain struck by her father. And since birth, she has been in training to kill him.
With no choice but to fulfill her duty, Nyx resents her family for never trying to save her and hates herself for wanting to escape her fate. Still, on her seventeenth birthday, Nyx abandons everything she's ever known to marry the all-powerful, immortal Ignifex. Her plan? Seduce him, destroy his enchanted castle, and break the nine-hundred-year-old curse he put on her people.
But Ignifex is not at all what Nyx expected. The strangely charming lord beguiles her, and his castle-a shifting maze of magical rooms-enthralls her.
As Nyx searches for a way to free her homeland by uncovering Ignifex's secrets, she finds herself unwillingly drawn to him. Even if she could bring herself to love her sworn enemy, how can she refuse her duty to kill him? With time running out, Nyx must decide what is more important: the future of her kingdom, or the man she was never supposed to love.

I was immediately intrigued by this book and HAD to read it because I absolutely LOVE Beauty and the Beast.
Belle x Beast <3 <3 <3
This book was cute. Sooooo so cute.
It angered me how Nyx was already betrothed and why (won't say too much to prevent spoilers). The fact that Nyx had to go through everything that went on... UGH. *flips table*
When Nyx meets Ignifex, it's different than with Beauty and Beast. Ignifexwill harm her, no matter how he feels about her. It kind of makes things more realistic. I mean, come on: having a guy automatically change for you doesn't always happen. That's a bit of a rare sight, especially if the guy isn't your average guy and has a dark past.
Oh God. I can't even form my thoughts into words. I don't know how to begin talking about the book. There's all these scenes and parts of the book that comes into mind and it just sparks millions of emotions within me. It makes me want to cry all over again.
WARNING: This book will make you cry.
Hodge is able to manipulate the reader's feelings and really knows how to add impact to the blow. This book was AMAZING.
I just wish there was more character development with Ignifex. I feel like there wasn't enough of him, and it would've been great if there was.
I loved how the book had such a dark twist to the original "Beauty and the Beast". It really added to the book and its suspense. It was truly a phenomenal book to read.
