This book can be read as a standalone.
Izzy Sawyer has always been the it girl. She believes she’s the last person on earth who deserves a happily ever after. Holt Edwards has always been the player that women voluntarily fall to their knees for. When it comes to love, Holt doesn’t believe in fairytale endings.
When Izzy dives back into the dating pool, Holt is right there, ready and willing, to offer tips and tricks to get her through an entire army of blind dates—starting with a bone melting demonstration on how to deliver mouthwatering kisses.
One thing leads to whiskey and Izzy is starting to think happily ever after doesn’t seem like such a bad idea. Holt is starting to rethink his stance on fairytale endings.
But Izzy has a secret that has turned her world upside down. Holt has a secret of his own that cost him far more than he ever bargained for.
Sometimes life doesn’t give you the happily ever after. Sometimes it’s best to leave fairytale endings on the bookshelf where they belong.
Izzy can’t stop thinking about Holt.Holt can’t seem to quit his favorite new addiction—Izzy.
The mercury is rising—secrets are percolating—and their lust for one another is just about to detonate.
Izzy needs just one more hit of Holt and his late night Whiskey kisses, but deep down she knows that will never be enough. She wants all of him—every bone melting kiss he ever has to offer.

Izzy wants HoltHolt worships Izzy.
Summer in Hollow Brook just heated up.Sparks are flying. Together Izzy and Holt are unstoppably electric.

Holt feels as though he ruined his parent’s marriage. Because of this guilt he did not go to college and decided to work the bars his family owns.

Izzy has been scared of men for a while now. Since her dad left when she was 7 and her mom started bring home the WRONG KIND OF MEN. Then right before Izzy’s 18th Birthday something terrible happens. This traumatic event leaves Izzy, still living at home, a virgin, and a CAT MOM of 4 little ones @ the age of 26.

Holt has had a crush on Izzy since he was about 13 and Izzy about 18. There is a 5 year gap between them. Holt knew there was no chance with Izzy with him so young. But now that Izzy is 26 and him about 22 there could be a chance.

Izzy has been a dance instructor most of her life. Her mother owns a dance studio and Izzy runs the place.

Izzy feels safe with Holt. Which is strange because she never feels safe with men. Laney wants Izzy to date so she sets her up on some blind dates that don’t go so well. Holt agrees to give her some dating tips (hoping it will spark something between them).

During their lessons, Holt and Izzy learn more about each other. Izzy tries to deny the attraction between them because she is so much older the Holt and thinks this will be a problem. Holt wants Izzy and always has. Holt knows something bad happened to Izzy from her reactions to certain things and knows he has to ease her into the friendship, the physical part of a relationship and the trust aspect as well.

Izzy and Holt eventually figure out they are a pretty good fit and admit their love for one another. They face Izzy’s trauma, Holt’s guilt secret, Izzy’s long lost dad, everyone’s prejudices of their relationship, a new fuzzy family member, family businesses being sold, new business deals being made, a double wedding, and internal struggles.

Izzy and Holt need to be strong enough to survive all of these things.

I like all of the characters in this series thus far. Izzy is kind, caring, shy and sweet. Holt has all of those qualities as well and unlike other male characters I did not see him as a bed-them-and-leave-them-guy. The author hints to that characteristic with Holt but you don’t really see those actions from him. I like Holt a lot because of that. Holt wants Izzy safe, happy, and free of the secrets. He wants to help her with all of that. It is a very beautiful story with these 2 characters.

Rating: 3 ½ stars

Happy Reading!
