I knew a girl back in high school who had a dress that looked similar to this one. I just love the lace over solid color effect. This creates such a soft, feminine, and dreamy look. I've designed two gowns with this effect in the past. I love this dress so much, I'm going to read this book. I know. I know. I'm such a cover whore.

Q: Activity!!! Take a picture or describe where you love to read the most...

I live in the DC area. I spend 4 hours a day on the train to and from work. (2 hours in the morning, 2 hours in the evening.) I don't mind because I like to read and zone out the rude people.

My second favorite place is at photoshoots. While the models are in hair and make up, I have plenty of time to read. Usually an hour or two before I have to dress them in wardrobe.

I was well into my twenties the first time I let a man lay a digit on my mane. Yes, I was skeptical. And as I set there sweating through my blouse, having heart palpitations and dreading to open my eyes as he swiveled the chair to a position facing the mirror; I had my speech all mapped out for how I would plead my case when I took him to court. Minutes later when I finally opened my eyes, to my surprised, ALL MY HAIR WAS STILL THERE. And you know what? It looked good! I learned a very important lesson that day. In today’s Dreamheart Spotlight you will meet Leon Willis, hair stylist, makeup artist (MUA) and wardrobe stylist. (And yes... A Man!)

“I started as a hairstylist then started doing makeup and wardrobe styling. I love makeup and wardrobe styling the most. Most of my wardrobe styling clients come from me doing their makeup,” said Willis. “I haven't had any work published or anything but that's my goal to do makeup and wardrobe for celebs, shows, events, and the everyday person as well. Not so much with hair though.”

Willis’ merge into the fashion industry was unorthodox to say the least. “Well I'm kind of the odd ball in the industry. I'm was a college and overseas basketball player before I started doing hair so it's funny how people react when they hear what I do and that I'm actually good and passionate about it,” he said.

Not all of Willis’ abilities and fashion forecasting savvy were self taught. “I attended and finished cosmetology school at Bennett Career Institute.”

“The Internet is [a] friend, blogs, YouTube, Google can teach u anything but you can't count out magazines. I have them all over my apartment. I might be a magazine hoarder”, he joked.

With dreams to glam celebrities such as Lala Vazquez, Angelina Jolie, Jill Scott, Pink and Lady Gaga to name a few; Willis does not take his job lightly.

“I take the whole 24/7 365 approach so when there is a job no matter where I'm there; as long as we can work out something I'll travel to wherever no matter when. I just love what I do so much,” he said.

Willis went on to share a secret with us about his fascination with international fashion, culture, and comedy. “Pat McGrath is like my makeup mom who doesn't know it”, he laughed. “I want to do every fashion show she does and I love British comedy. “

Among many there is one stereotype Willis wanted to lay to rest. “[MUA] is a true profession and everyone can't do it. People don't realize how hard we work in this industry. It's a 24hr job we don't just punch in and out like a 9-5 it's a lifestyle. Most jobs you go home and you’re not what you do anymore but I'm always a makeup artist, hairstylist and wardrobe stylist no matter when,” he said.

With pet peeves exposure, often comes sound advice. “Women who cake makeup on their face and women who where their makeup to sleep; It's not good for your skin and the most important thing in makeup is taking care of the skin,” said Willis.

In spite of being in high demand, Willis remains humble. “I [have] only been doing this for almost a year plus I look at each job as a blessing so if I'm available I don't turn any jobs down. Even if I was well recognized I would still take free and TFP jobs.”

I recently discovered this new Science Fiction (sci-fi) author and wanted to share her debut novel with you:

We Of The Universe

Captain Haslow is one of the many people who have fled into deep space to escape the Versal expansion. He has found his niche: training up terrorists to send into Versal territory to cause havoc. However, the Versals are no longer satisfied and, despite the codes forbidding it, have started to move into deep space. They offer him an ultimatum: join them or die. But how could he join the people responsible for his sister's death?

Haslow's only hope is to venture into the mysterious 'Grey', a part of space that is shrouded in myth and legend.

Legeve is a Versal who has spent most of her time in a small room, living her life in virtual reality. After she undergoes 'The Dance of The Suns' she will never see existence in the same way again.

Marta is a new recruit aboard Captain Haslow's ship. She is one of the many lust born forced to flee when the Versals expanded to take over the outer planets. She is not used to ship life and has no idea about what is in store. What will she become?

Now, let's get to know Rachel Cooper a little bit:

Author Q & A:

Q: When and why did you begin writing?

A: I've been writing ever since I was small. Everyone has their thing. Some are good at sports, some are good with people and I've always been good with reading and words. It mainly started with me wanting to tell stories like the ones I read.

Q: What inspired you to write "We Of The Universe"?

A: I do creative visualisations and I got a glimmering of what would become the first chapter.

Q: How did you come up with the title?

A: 'We Of The Universe,' is a play on the religion of the main bad guys of my novel, who believe they were born from the very universe itself.

Q: Is there a message in your novel, "We Of The Universe" that you want readers to grasp?

A: It's a sad and lonely world if you don't have someone to support you. Each of the characters come to grasp in their own way that they don't have to carry their burdens alone.

Q: What books have most influenced your life most?

A: It would have to be C.S Lewis by Narnia. I read that book again and again. They are such fun books, set in such a wonderful world, with such a good message.

Q: What book are you reading now?

A: I'm getting started on Wolf Dawn by Susan Cartwright that I heard about on the 'Adventures in Scifi Publishing.' The said it was like Anne Mccaffery's Dragonrider series with wolves, and I was sold.

Q: What are your current projects?

A: Two very different projects to my novella. One is a dark, Gothic drama and another is high fantasy. Also I am currently studying to be a teacher, which takes up a lot of my writing time.

Q: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

A: Staying with one idea and finishing it. Also getting to caught up in outlining and world-building. I've started adding those details while I'm writing or otherwise it won't even get started.

Q: Who is your favourite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

A: I've always had trouble in picking favourites. I read so much and each book is good in its own way. A good book is the one I finish all the way through and that I feel something for by the end of it.

Q: Who designed the cover of "We Of The Universe"?

A: I did. I have a little skill with photoshop so I thought I'd use it to make my own cover that best showed the feel of my novel. I've had good feedback so far so I think I've succeeded in that regard.

Q: Did you learn anything from writing your book and what was it?'

A: That I should write what I love. It's so much easier that way and it makes the process fun instead of a struggle.

Q: Do you have any advice for other writers?

A: You know in finding Nemo how she sings, 'Just keep swimming...' Apply that to your writing. 'Just keep writing, writing, writing. Don't forget to write.'

I had such high hopes for this book, but it fell short of my expectations. I found myself reading it in zombie mode. In other words, I felt very detached. I kept getting déjà vu of the Hunger Games in the beginning. Then just when the story line started to prove me wrong, something else would turn me off. I failed to sense the danger. The romance aspect was a little intriguing, but I felt weirded out by the reoccurring reference to wrists. *Sigh* At last, I had to set the book down and move on to more exciting adventures within the margins of another novel.

Perhaps in the near future I will give this a review redemption (option 2).

Character Interview: Augustus "Gus" Berry (Mountain Man)

Mountain Man was by far the 1^st EPIC, non- YA, novel I’ve read in my whole entire life! I’ve learned life skills from this book. Such as in order to survive the Zombie apocalypse, I have to remember to pack toilet paper; and the one thing that’ll always be in plentiful supply is booze. In commemoration of this milestone, I decided to interview Gus from Mountain to give you a glimpse into his unforgettable story. Also, since I can't get Mickey Rourke off my mind, when I think of Gus, here's his picture. (Of course, he'd have to shave his head and grow the thicker beard first.)

Note from the author: “Be aware though, that Gus's frame of mind is usually in a frame of
borderline drunkenness, and the story is set in the future. Having said
that (and warned you :)…” (Keith C. Blackmore)

Don’t worry, I’ll “bleeped" out the curse words…

If a movie was made about your life, who would be an appropriate actor to depict your story?

Hm good one. I s'pose I'd like that guy in ... oh what's his name now. Hm.
Ah. He was a kid actor there. Did that one movie with the, the thing. Did
that "Kid with a Bike" movie when he was a kid. Tom was his name.... I
think.

If your story was a movie, what would be its rating and why?

Personally speakin' I said XXX-but the mucky mucks probably want a four
quad flick, so that would PG-13. Or somethin' around there. PG-13 (laughs,
snorts) what a load of horse sh!t. Course then again, they could DO a XXX
and then, like, fuzz the blood out. Or switch to black n' white like they
did in Kill Bill 1. (scratches self) That was a good show.

Tell us about your world.

My world's fine. Jus' fine. As long as you're properly medicated enuff...

Will we ever know your full story?

Nah. Nothin' to tell there. Unless I wanted to put you t'sleep. I'm
snorin' here jus' thinkin' of it now. Here I go...
Well, there is one thing. If you are doing any kind of indoor paintin', use
the proper brush. Saves time n' energy. And stay away from oil-based
paints. Them's a b@$t@rd to clean up after. They do smell good
though...especially in non-ventilated areas....

Give use 3 words that describe you.

That requires thinkin'.

Will you always be a loner, or will you seek other survivors?

After Roxanne? Bein' a bachelor is the life for me. All the way.

Anything extra you’d like to add?

the hospital. Evil-a$$ed crazy b!t%h tried to slice me up into pork
cutlets for her youngsters. Nasty business. You can read all about it in

come from hell if I know. We done?

After a 48 hour book binge of fairytale love @ 1st sight YA bliss, I began this novel. This was my first real horror novel. I mean, once upon a time, I watched the fright moves and used to LOVE them. Then I got girly, and sort of turned my back on the world of gore.

Welcome to the Zombie apocalyptic world, where Gus, the mountain man, is living on borrowed time, but has out lived the rest of society because he’s smarter then you’d give him credit for. He recognized the importance of toilet paper and booze. I had such an array of emotions reading this book. I could hardly contain the giggles at times, of the graphic surreal depiction of mountain man. Not at all a turn off but a pleasant relief. It was a welcome back to the real world of sorts. Needless to say, Gus is a manly man; but it’s not just about him. There are the zombies! The encounter scenes are nail biting, heart pumping,” Oh my Lord” swearing…… so scary you could s!*% yourself, and then someone in the story does, and it’s freaking hilarious!

If you making me break out the old albuterol …you literally take my breath away. This book did it. It was funny, scary, a little sad, and will have you cheering for this mountain man to live just one more day.

WARNING: This book is not for the squeamish of hearts…..but even if you are you will be surprised at how much you’re going to enjoy this book.

Should you embark on this journey, get ready to see words like:

♥ vomit,

♥ belch,

♥ scratching of the nether regions,

♥ Captain Morgan and Jack Daniels.

If this was a movie…this would be my dream "Gus":

I love it when there’s a running start from page one. This book was a fairytale to its core. Every word was infused with anticipation of something wonderful around the corner. Emma, the main character, kicks off the story receiving an unbelievable birthday gifts, and accepts her good fortune without doubt making you feel excitement and discovery of miraculous journey. That was a great motivating factor. I was able to read this is a few hours. This was like a Disney move in print. Gnomes, fairies, shape shifters, dragons, and demons (oh my!)!!! Even when things turned dark, there was still a light hearted flow to the story, which gives the reader faith. This was an enjoyable read.

The name was ridiculous, and I thought the dreamy cover was too elementary. *Sigh* And then I turned to the first page…

This book made me absolutely giddy. This is like a supernatural coming of age novel. Being from the hills of Tennessee and moving all over the world, I could relate to the main character. It’s not easy to feel welcome in the BIG city when you have a country drawl. The enemies in this book were tangible, infuriating, and REALLY went for blood. I could feel my own blood boil. The supporting characters were great. Sophie in particular, was downright comic relief and Lily was the grounding factor. Oh and there was a leading man. Or dream man I should say. If the scenes with him weren’t a dream, I would probably gag, but because they were played off as imaginary infatuations, I was right on board…drooling on my Nook. This world of witchcraft was introduced conversationally like snippets of education in girl talk. Very casual and I like that it wasn’t just shoved at the reader in the beginning. I couldn’t have been more devastated, then when the words stopped and the story ended.

Tell us a little about yourself. (education, home town, etc)
Hey, I'm Kashif Ross and I'm originally from the wild west--Los Angeles, California. Though I'm college educated, most people never know my degrees. My BA is in Social Ecology, and I received that from UC-Irvine. My MS is in Gerontology, from Long Beach State. My friends know me as that guy that's done a little bit of everything. I've been a molecular oncology researcher for prostate cancer, a tutor in everything from math to computers, a slam poetry performer, 3D animator, and character designer. I currently reside in The Bay area, but I'm moving back to LA in a few months. Can't wait!

What do you do when you are not writing?
Right now, all I do is write because I'm working on cranking out two more novels this year. But, I'm known to dabble in the occasional Just Dance videos for the Wii. I've participated in a few wars on my PS3, I practice my guitar, and draw.

What inspired you to write "Barcode: Legend of Apollo"?
Manga. Here's my dilemma, I suffer from a horrible attention disorder. I just can't sit still because my mind is always working. Back in the good ole days, I could read for hours and finish a book in a day, but not any more. Now, when I read something, I get my own ideas.

I began reading Naruto seven years back and got a wicked idea for his enemy/rival. I created a hidden village for him and other things. Then, I got into Bleach and made a better main character because Ichigo blows most of the time. After two years, both characters merged in my mind and they were no longer 2D fictional characters. I had this manga-like fantasy in my head. Generally, I was okay with keeping the stories to myself. But on a stormy night, they started haunting my thoughts and I had to get them on paper!

Who designed the cover of "Barcode: Legend of Apollo"?
Oh my! Stephanie "Sheep" Yang and Glynnis Koike. I love them so much. Sheep is an old friend and I knew she rocked at art. I hadn't spoken to her in years, but contacted her on Facebook when I realized she was 'The One'. She linked up with her friend and made magic. Is there a message in your novel, "Barcode: Legend of Apollo" that you want readers to grasp?
Yes, but let me warn you, I deliver it in the most dramatic way.

War is beautifully horrible. Though we feel safe in certain countries, there are many people who suffer trauma and torture on a daily basis. We can't turn a blind eye to this or tragic things will happen to us.

Are experiences based on someone you know, or events in your own life?
One of my best friends was murdered on the streets of LA in 2007. Though he was a great guy, he had this dark side to him and it was getting worse. Funny thing is, I didn't realize how much the story related to his life until I had to explain the final events to someone. But this has happened before. I've written numerous stories about him since that time. Even the next few books from Barcode have his struggle in them.

If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything in your latest book?
I wanted people to understand the ending a little better. If I could, I would have left the last two or three chapters off and created a less of a 'problem' for the next book. I've spoken to some readers and they were a bit upset with the final events, others were thrilled.

Taking the final chapters for Book #1 to Book #2 may have been a solution, but I'm still very satisfied overall and trying not to focus on it. I have "Cavern of Youth" to worry about.

What are you currently reading?
I've been trying to find time to finish "The Chosen One" by Sheenah Freitas for so long, but I'm too busy. Wonderful story so far.

If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?
Stephen King. I can crank out books just as quickly and would love advice on it.

Do you have any advice for other writers?
Yes. First, I have a "Stupid Man's Guide" with videos of this advice. But, in summary, check your resources and formatting first. Keep everything clean and neat so you're not wasting time at the end.

As for writing, just write. Don't worry about whether it's a good or bad idea. Just write and delete if it sucks, that's what a backspace is for.

Lastly, love it. This can be wonderful, but when you see your sales slipping, it can bum you out a bit. Don't concentrate on that. Look for places to market your book and write something new. Keep busy and trust in a better future.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?
Be warned, my novels are not predictable. I want to attract a different set of readers: those that are tired of the stereotypical fantasy of boy defeats wizard/vampire to become a hero trend. I want to get the others who feel left out and are dying for something new. But if you accept this challenge from me, don't run away because things don't go your way. I'm trying to set up a very detailed and unpredictable ending to my series and I hope you'll join for the ride.

Will you have a new book coming out soon?
Barcode: Cavern of Youth is on schedule to release between June 1st and June 18th. I'll update my website once I have an official date.

I don't have any ambitions to be the next runway designer...

Not long after I decided to sell my designs, I discovered Etsy. (An online community of artist and crafters where one can buy and sell handmade goods, vintage items, and related supplies.) It was among the independent stores featured here that I stumbled upon an Indie designer that was definitely a cut above the rest. I am happy to feature the Southern Californian fashion designer and total nerd for all things sci-fi, Hope Matlock of Label of Hope, on this edition of Dreamheart Spotlight.

Label of Hope specializes in women’s shirts with the occasional dabble in dresses and bottoms. “There's never a time when I'm not experimenting with some new neckline or design element for my patterns,” says Hope. “I try to keep a signature look that my customers can recognize but I want to be sure to keep them interested and coming back too.”

Hope’s inspiration comes from the basic element of the industry. “It sounds silly but the fabric itself is what inspires the designs.” She said. “I like different prints and contrasting colors so I tend to gravitate towards those.”

This crafty fashionista’s motivation to venture in this field may seem subtle to most, but her road to Etsy popularity is definitely inspiring.    “It was just something I always did. I never really saw it as a skill or a talent. My family was very DIY so it came naturally.” Hope said. “I never took any classes or got a degree in fashion/merchandising. It would be nice to have the degree and I know a lot of people who had a blast getting theirs but it just never occurred to me. Plus, we are so lucky to live in an age of YouTube and the internet... you can easily learn any technique online.”

No need to worry about trendy cookie cutter remakes from this designer. “I just make what I feel like when I wake up, she said.   “I try not to get into what the magazines are doing. I'm always afraid if I do that I'll lose what makes my brand special."

When asked about her future plans, Hope said, “Really, I just want to keep creating. I love what I do. I don't have any ambitions to be the next runway designer... I just want to remain a independent and free to make my own design decisions.”

Sabrina, an artist, is diagnosed with schizophrenia, and her parents check her into the Wellness Center. There she meets Alec, who is convinced that it's the world that's crazy, not them. But when Alex starts to convince Sabrina that her treatment will wipe out everything that makes her creative, she worries she'll lose hold of her dreams and herself.

I have a new found respect for people with mental health issues. This story doesn’t asks for sympathy or begs to poke fun at psychological issues rather pulls you into the world of walking into the sun to get to Heaven; where bad people have static inside of them; the world is crumbling within itself; and people are stolen bit by bit by technology and replaced with imposters. We see the world from Sabrina’s eyes. (A teenager battling schizophrenia from within the walls of a wellness center.) We see her meet the boy from her dreams, Alex, who’s also a patient, but admitted under false pretense. The romance aspect of their relationship is sweet, innocent and enduring. The overall story sporadically switches back and forth between Sabrina’s life before diagnosis and after; and has twists and turns that’s definitely a page turner. It left me wondering, if you read a book about crazy people, told from the delusional perspective of a crazy person, and like it…does that make you crazy? Well if so, strap me in a straight jacket and commit my name to the logs because this story is truly a humbling heart touching, believable, enjoyable, read that I will not soon forget.

Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's high school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. She can't stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her. Reaching him is even more difficult because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his arrival. So why can't she get him out of her mind?

Even though Lizzie knows she should let go of her fascination with Drew, fighting fate isn't going to be easy.

I was given a free copy of this Ebook for review from the author. I support the Tell Taylor Project, even after reading the book, but I would be a liar to not point out why I’m wearing a smirk right now.

I’m sort of on the fence about this book. I liked it, but I wanted to LOVE it. When I heard it was about Taylor Swift and her song “Love Story”, I went nuts. That song is what helped me first discover the artist, and it has been my favorite ever since. Needless to say, now I love Taylor Swift. Yes, I do! So just like the next fan, I was singing “Love Story” off key in my head as I read this book.

But at last, this did not make me a believer in reincarnated love. I have serious issues with portrayal of the characters. Drew was a perpetual asshole throughout the ages. I just could not grow to like him, even at the end. Lizzy…..*sigh*….I just can’t see how her actions are justified. It was a believable tale, but so totally messed up. Maybe if the boyfriend was a bigger jerk or the BFF was a total B!@##$$%, I would think differently about the ~~“guy leading a girl on to avoid another chick-then that chick breaks up with her longtime boyfriend to steal said guy from her best friend”~~ situation. But I wasn’t sympathetic in the end. What little love Drew and Lizzy felt was from the past life and unfair to base their actions on in the present day. I feel terrible to say, but in book two, I look forward to the classmate’s isolation and whispering in the halls. Wouldn’t it be funny is Chas planned revenge while her dad and Lizzy’s mom secretly dated? Now that would be a big ol’ slice of, what was it the Rock used to say, pie. Justice will be served in my mind if that happens. Better yet, I look forward to their relationship developing and having something stable to build upon.

What can I say? Today's a swanky kind of day!

Kayla Wright had wanted to be a Detective her entire life. Growing up in a rough neighborhood, made her want to do all she could to help others who could not help or defend themselves. The routine crimes happening in the City, made it easy for her to solve nearly all of her cases. But now, her new case involving the vigilante known as GEMINI is turning the city upside down. Now she has a team dedicated to tracking him down. But the question arises, who is more of a threat to her: The vigilante, or her team. Who is lurking in the shadows? Is he friend or foe? Is it even a ‘he’? And can she solve this case before more people end up dead.

Thanks to the author for entrusting me with an honest review of his debut novel. Gemini or Geminii is an editor’s playground. I found myself pen in hand noting grammatical errors left and right; but soon found myself so engrossed in the story that even subject/verb disagreements no longer gave me pause. I was on the edge of my swivel chair, sneaking and reading paragraphs at work. This dark modern day play on Greek mythology, espionage, government secrets, one mysterious vigilante, and corrupt cops is sure to keep you scratching your head. Right when you think you have it all figured out, the author throws you another curve ball. The story focuses a lot on the action. And similar to Sin City, has a very “in your face” uncensored, unapologetic approach to violence. With the especially heinous criminals and perpetrators of sexual crimes, I found myself gloating at the samurai style justice, the would be hero, Gemini/Geminii inflicted. Yet it was with the others that I did not whole heartedly agree with. I think the reason is, because the characters were kept on a surface level. No one was fully developed. I didn’t feel as if their past was explained enough to justify their deaths. There were traitors among the ranks and I didn’t really feel the betrayal. With the romantic twists, I wish the wooing phases were explored. There were jumps in time here and there, and a header stating dates would have aided me tremendously. The ending will leave you speechless with plans to reread and see if some clues slipped past you. I found myself stopping a lot and flipping back to reanalyze the facts. Overall, this was definitely original. I look forward to reading the sequel. I would be even more thrilled if it’s developed into a graphic novel. I would recommend this to fans of mind games and action.

When did you begin book blogging and why?

I started book blogging last year, after I joined good reads. I was already blogging, but my fashion projects were more stretched out and, in the mean time, I was doing a lot more reading. I figured “hey” why not combine my two loves.

My favorite author is…. Geez… that’s a hard question. There’s so many awesome writers out there. If I had to choose right now, I am totally fan girl over H.D. Gordon.

I enjoy all types of music. (Mostly, anyway.) It has to have a nice beat and/or thoughtful lyrics. I am a fan of Adele, Christina Perri, Nickelback, Kings of Leon, Ellie Goulding, and the list of English speaking artist can go on and on. Internationally, I’m a HUGE fan of Xavier Naidoo! RANT/RAVE # 2

Rant & Rave: because sometimes, I've just got to vent. After being the nice little, sometimes doormat, darling for 20-something years, some things just get to me. Won't it be fun if I shared?

This is not directly any any one person. It is something I needed to get out from a number of previous run in's with authors and it needs to be reiterated, in writing, for future reference.

I blog about books for the pure joy of tracking my thoughts. It's like a diary for me. I don't do it because I know someone is reading it. That's always a thought in the back of my mind. However, I do it more so for me. At the same time, I don't go around setting ants on fire with magnifying glasses. I don't enjoy giving low ratings, because if I do, chances are it hurt me far more suffering through reading it then again with remembering the pain while writing my review. I read alot. On public transit on the 2 hour ride en route to work, during my hour lunch, on the 2 hour ride back home, and a little before I go to sleep. Then when I'm not sewing or blogging, I read some more. There's not much, besides anime, that interests me more. I added the review policy form on my blog after getting too many emails and GoodRead notes asking if I can review their book. That told me, "hey people are actually listening to me."

Sorry I'm rambling, but there is much to be said before I get to the point.

In the event I post something that offends, do tell me. At the same time, be prepared for whatever response I give. I am NOT a mean person. At the same time, I am not a chump. I will not be bullied by people who valued my opinion enough to allow me to review their book, and then get snarky when I don't give the review they like.

I am entitled to my own opinion. You did not pay me, nor did you make me sign a contract before sending me your book.

I understand that a book is an author's blood, sweat, and tears. If I ever put my fashions on front street with a fashion blogger and they don't like it, oh well. I would not dare write them about it and tell them they're not "being fair." It's called criticism. I would shut up and listen and maybe even grow from it. Authors have dreams of being on the best seller's list, and I have dreams of seeing my designs on the red carpet. Let's face it, it won't happen for every designer or author out there. That's a fact I've come to terms with. EVERYTHING IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY.

But DREAMS make the world go round, so dream on. I know I will.

But I'm ever the nice girl with my review redemption option 1 & 2. I thought I was doing authors a favor with this. Maybe not. Maybe I should not be so nice about it, talk exactly about how a book sucks, and bash the book, while devoting entirely too much of my time and give the authors more publicity. It may be even worst to ignore the author or play the avoidance game in an effort to giving them the review they requested.

But rest assured I won't do any of that rude stuff.
♥ I will also never delete a post.

♥ If I cannot finish a book, I will not torture myself. (It will get a "0" rating...point blank)

♥ If said same unfinished book, goes into review redemption pile, I'll buy a copy (if that pleases the author) for a friend to review. If they don't like it also........I'll give it one last shot after I finish my other books. If I still don't like it......I'M SORRY!

♥ Once I post a review to my blog, it's FINAL. If I change my mind after a second read, I will do a new post update. However, my feelings a the time, are my feelings at the time.

Please don't take the stuff personal! I'm sure you're great at what you do; but I wouldn't put a straight man in a formal gown and expect him to brag to his friends about it.

There’s more to rap then rhyming words and hostility. Rappers are poets, motivational speakers and more commonly role models. I grew up in a city where majority of my peers proclaimed to be the lyrical masterminds of our time while knuckling beats on the cafeteria tables and competing instead of eating during our lunch hour. Many of us eventually gave this dream up after we graduated, but it is the true MC’s that pursue this into adulthood. We know them as Playa Fly, Skinny Pimp, Yo Gotti, 3-6 Mafia, Project Pat, 8 Ball & MJG. Next in line from Memphis, Tenn could quit possibly be today’s Dreamheart Spotlight. Meet Ezp Moneyman. I asked the creatively epic lyricism how he got his stage name.

“Long story , but It comes from my friends in the neighborhood who use to call me “Easy Money” or “lil Ez”, he said. “After having so many other alias (Dunkyman, Triggamane, Superstar, Yung E, Yung Ez) I merged them all together and created “Ezp Moneyman”.”

This Memphis native describes his music as always having a strong message. “It will touch the audience and have them feel as though they can relate to my situation”, said Ezp Moneyman. “Each song I created all are different; But mostly they are about life and the situations people face everyday…..rather rich or poor.” Versatile in hip-hop, pop, R&B and more; his style is distinguishable from others in the industry. “ I keep it so brutally honest that everyone can feel my music,” he said.

Ezp Moneyman contributed his gravitation to this genre of music to his family. Raised listening to Blues, gospel, and rap, he recalls his most memorable song from childhood was “Life” by YoGotti. “Now I listen to all different sorts from hip-hop to Heavy metal,” remarked Ezp Moneyman.

He laughed and continued with saying “I remember I was13 and my mom had a voice recorder she used in class to record the teacher’s lessons. I used it to record my first tape by playing the song in the background while the mic was connected to the radio. I had a blank tape and all the songs were recording straight to the tape. I couldn’t stop and start again so I recorded none stops for like 8 songs!”

Ezp Moneyman first realized his dream to rap well before his eighteenth birthday. “I dropped my first official mix tape my senior year of High school and so many people were digging it and saying I was good so I thought to myself “Hey, I can do this”, he exclaimed. “Plus I have always work with and loved music from playing the violin as a child to creating instrumentals on fruity loops.”

Ezp Moneyman has been making music for 11 years and has participated in talent shows and open mic competitions over the years in an effort to enhance his musical career. “Getting heard by the right people has been the biggest challenge.” he said. “There are so many people in Memphis who are in the music industry and if you don’t know the right person it’s hard to get it to them. They get so much other music sometimes things get overlooked.”

Currently a part of an independent label by the name of “Mad Entertainment/ MoneyClub Music Group” yet always open for making big deals and negotiating ideas; Ezp Moneyman’s immediate goal is getting global play.

“I feel like my music is ready for oversees and more. I have songs where I am speaking Spanish and more. Stories and love is my message”, he said.

I know this cover is minimum on fashion wardrobe wise but after the cover real at I Heart YA Books , I'd be crazy to not give it the props it deserve. I recently had a photoshoot, where the MUA on set completely transformed the model to A GODDESS. Seeing it all unfold, and from personal experience, I know applying make up is not as simple as it looks. This cover inspires me. Simply breathtaking and has awakened me to bring back Fashion Forward Fiction Fridays. After reading Blood Warrior, I begged for more romance and more fighting. After reading Half Black Soul, I feel as if I’ve been injected with a syringe containing concentrated lust and death. Seriously I’m having an excitement OVERLOAD here and need to calm down before I pass out.

Now this I'll pay BIG BUCKS to see on the big screen! Whenever I’m feeling down, sad, or just plan peeved off, I’ll always have the memory of HALF BLACK SOUL to put a smile on my face.

If you haven’t read this book, you’re delusional. You should be put in a straight jacket and refined to a time out corner, because seriously this read is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.

Okay, okay! It's been a few days now since I've finished this book. I've been racking my brains on a nice way to phrase this review. But there is no easy way, so here goes:

I DID NOT LIKE THIS AT ALL!

The main character gave me a headache. I tortured myself trying to finish it just because I hate to quit on a book. The whole time I was talking myself into finding some good in it, like I do every book that falls a little short on my expectations, because I hate to give low rating. But at last I just can't.
Granted, I didn't read the first couple of books in this series, so I figure they have to be worth something if the author made it to book #4. I'll give you one star for that.

The last ten pages was where I felt the whole story should have been progress wise. I'll give you another star for that.

Lastly, I really really wanted to like Lindsey, but I so could not relate. The half rating goes to the fact that the Mystyx characters all have had cool powers.

Since there's no half rating scale here, I'll give the other half in good faith.

This book just didn't do it for me. Sorry.

“[Without photography] society would lack the ability to see art. If photography was never invented, the way that we see life would be altered. Without photography, many eras in history would be confined to words only, making us blind to the light of the past”, says the Mid-South’s renowned photographer Arekah “the Goddess”. Please give a warm welcome to the Goddess in this 6th edition of Dreamheart Spotlight.

Arekah’s deity status was influenced by one of the music industry’s most famous moguls. “When I was thinking of a fun name for my Facebook page, I initially tried my nick name given to me by a friend of Diddy. Well, thanks to Sean Combs...I couldn't use it”, she said. “So Goddess came to me and it seems to have stuck.”

With the aid of time, this title developed more significance. “My perspective on life, my past, my failures, my triumphs, and my passion makes me uniquely.....the Goddess,” says Arekah.

This self taught photographer believes “A good photographer has vision, skill, and the ability to come up with concepts that speak.”

“I have been blessed to have people with more experience break my work down to nothing then give me the tools to build it back up.” She said.

When asked about her methods of obtaining so much knowledge in this area, Arekah responded, “For me, it was pure trial and error. I am a very hands on person and I learn better by doing.” Arekah started her journey in capturing life at a flash, the moment she got her first camera off Craigslist in August of 2010. With the aid of divine intervention, her interest soon blossomed. “The Creator gave it to me in September of 2010”, she said. “My influence came directly from the universe and The Creator. I was already performing and writing on a regular basis, so the transition seemed like another stanza on an already written poem.”

Arekah is a firm believer of the Chinese proverb, “One picture is worth ten thousand words”. “I believe that a picture is an open gate for the imagination of the person that is viewing it,” she said. “They can create a story from different shades of color, tones, highlights, and movement.”

Arekah went on to explain, “This expression means that I can influence the masses to think beyond their own imaginations.”

“Photography becomes art when it is no longer basic.” She said. Photography is not just a job for this visionary; it is a passion. “Photography was never a hobby for me.” Arekah said. “I love the process. The moment when my lights are set up properly, my subject is excited, and my camera is in my hand is glorious. That second that I put the view finder to my eye, is the moment that I fall in love all over again.”

“Photography is important to me because it gives me a visual outlet to share my visions with others.” She said. “My spoken word was always a verbal representation; my camera gives me a chance to translate my poetry into light.”

The Goddess may be young experience wise, but she has many highly adored photographs under her belt. “The more that I grow; I seem to have a slight retro tone and feel to my images.” She said, “I was born in the late 70's and I guess the Ebony, Jet, and Essence magazines my mother had around the house influenced my passion.” It’s more so Arekah’s talent than her time in experience that makes her a contender. “I think that every photographer needs talent to be a great photographer," she said. "To capture emotion and expression takes talent as well, but to put your own spin on that emotion and expression is more important to me.”

When asked if the price of a camera mattered in the ways that it affects the quality of a picture, Arekah was very vociferous. “Heck no,” she said. “A good photographer can take a great photo with a cardboard box camera from the dollar store.”

“A good photographer [also] has vision, skill, and the ability to come up with concepts that speak,” she said.

Arekah doesn’t fret over the advances in technology. “The art of film photography will never be totally replaced by digital, but I do believe that the current technology makes it super easy for new togs to learn how to create great images,” she said.

With plans of venturing into film and motion pictures one day, the Goddess is one to look out for. Living by the motto “Have camera, will travel”, this photographer is available and ready to tackle any new project local and foreign.

Arekah the Goddess ended our interview with saying, “I am motivated by the voice that speaks loud from my images. The sheer excitement of infusing my love for fashion, poetry, and art into a series of images that could potentially live forever keep me going!”

Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kick ass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?

Of course! Who doesn't LOVE a kiss ass heroine? The defining factor for me it the heroine has to be underestimated. I'm talking the last one you would consider fighting. I myself served 10 years in the Army. I'm 5'1" in the right shoes and ninety something pounds soaking wet. Needless to say, I look like a kid. However I was an armorer and I can out shoot most men and do serious harm in hand to hand combat. So YES I love a story I can relate to. My very first favorite heroine was Anita Blake. Her nickname was "Ma Petite" but she also had another nickname in the vamp and lycanthrope community as "The executioner". The only thing that turned me off about that series is it started to get a little too freaky smut wise. Another one of my favorites is Blood Warrior. This chick is underestimated in the human world mostly because she's weird. Hey I can dig it.....I've been weird my whole life. I'm a veteran, book worm, fashion designing blogger!?!?! Doesn't get any weirder then that!

ARC Review: Howl for Me (unfinished/ abridged) by Aaron Lee Johns Jr

I received an unfinished/ abridged ARC copy of “Howl for Me” by Aaron Lee Johns Jr from the Author for an honest review.

This novel contains a series of short stories with various genres. From Erotic to paranormal, to adult contemporary, to horror, that all prove to be outstanding intros to a series of very promising novels. I must admit, I didn’t know what to expect, but definitely didn’t know this break out Indie author had it in him. I’m familiar with the author’s romance poetry. (So very swoon worthy, I might add!) Well this feature took a step outside the box. The first mini story jumped right to the action omitting the foreplay completely and left this little lady blushing and completely unprepared. And then like a cold shower leaves you on a cliff hanger. *Clearing throat* Not to sound forward or anything. … But would like to know what happened next. I could really appreciate the next story about the soldier. VERY BELIEVEABLE! (I’ve read militant stories from civilians authors who haven’t got a clue and write based on Hollywood stereotypes. I served 10 years. If you are going to write about us, then do some research first! *SMH*) Great job Mr. Johns. My favorite story was the last one with the kick ass heroine. The only complaints I have, of course, are the few grammatical errors, and the fact that their just basically excerpts. Also know as teasers…better known as FINISH THE DARN BOOK ALREADY. I can’t wait to read the full stories.

Then Drew Carmichael transfers into Lizzie's high school at the beginning of the year, and she feels a connection to him, almost like she knows him. She can't stop thinking about him, but whenever she tries talking with him about the mysteries behind her feelings, he makes it clear that he wants nothing to do with her. Reaching him is even more difficult because she has a boyfriend, Jeremy, who has started to become full of himself after being elected co-captain of the varsity soccer team, and her flirtatious best friend Chelsea starts dating Drew soon after his arrival. So why can't she get him out of her mind?

Even though Lizzie knows she should let go of her fascination with Drew, fighting fate isn't going to be easy.

MY MOTIVATION: I was inspired toparticipate in this event because I love Taylor Swift. "Love Story" was the song that did it for me. Ever since then, I've been a fan! I wish Michelle Madow all the luck in this event. If she can get Taylor's attention, perhaps I can get this Tennessee song bird to let me style her her a Kindred Dreamheart original for the red carpet!

I caught him stealing glances at me from across the room, and the sight of him took my breathe away. He slowly began to limp toward me and the way his right knee dipped a little every time he landed on that side was so gangsta. And then his nose hit the ground, and I was like "Guuuuuurrrrrl, that's gone be my baby daddy!" "What that's just a skin ailment. Pale, huh, he just don't get out that much. You just Jealous cause he the most popular guy in schooland he want me."

YES I judged this book long before I read it. NO need to worry, this IS NOT that kind of book.

I was given a copy of this book from Net Galley via the generous folks at Random House Publishing Group.

Throughout and by the end of this book I had so many emotions volleying for my attention, my most difficult challenge proved to be reiming it all in and forming my review in coherent sentences.

I was excited by the action. The fight scenes definitly had my upmost attention to the point where I've missed my stop on the train more than once and was late for work, hence giving me more time to read this awesome book. (Not complaining here....just stating a fact.) The settings and reforming of society in this Dystopia novel had me in awe. I heart Steampunk. There's something uniquely fasinating about it and the culture and lifestyle of this tale definitely put me in the mind of Steampunk. I appreciated the fact that this has not one, but two kick ass heroines! And the one you'ld least expect is the boldest. Nora was a little diappointing in that aspect. I wanted her to be more hard core bad-ass-ness. (Um, you know what I mean right?) I was horrified of this author's audasity to try and make a zombie the leading male in this romance. I'm so not completely sold. It was super sweet how it all played out. I'm embarrased to say, I found myself sighing alot and a tad bit jelious of Nora. If you're old enough to remember Family Matter, you'll understand when I say, Nora and Bram had a Laura/Steve Urkel kind of love. (At first he was so undesirable to the point of "EWWW", then he grows on you.) The villians were surprising when revealed and infuriating none the less. I was disappointed when it ended. I'm excited and impaitent to see what happens next.

If you're afraid to pick this up because of the ZOMBIE content, you're going to regret it. This is a very well written and darn almost believeable book. Well, it is, if you can get pass the whole walking dead thing.) There are decaying gross parts, but there's nothing too terrifying to give you nightmares. I rate this 4.5!

Every blue moon an industry hopeful comes along who is just so loveable and ambitious; you want to sign them before you’ve even seen their talent. In this installment of Dreamheart Spotlight I will feature the spunky, classy, and outgoing Chasity “Model Monae” Miller. Friends describe Miller as a “down to earth and a very energetic person; who puts God first and leaps out on faith on everything that she puts her mind to.”

“I never let my bad day turn in rain,” reintegrated Miller.

When asked why she wanted to work in this particular field, Miller said, “I want to model to show my personality and confidence through Art. Also, to show modeling is for short petite models and so we can work it like the high fashion models with our beauty and quirks.”

Miller was inspired to model from the hit prime time television show “America Next Top Model”. Miller is a John Casablanca graduate and currently a full time college student majoring in Performing Arts. Aside from personality and confidence, Miller believes she is fit to be a model because of her unique style, look, and signature poses. “The biggest one of all BEING A ROLE MODEL,” she said.

Miller’s goals are plain and simple. “To be the best all I can be and bringing MY ‘A’ GAME!” She exclaimed.

When it comes to nutrition, Miller is very strict. “I follow the pyramid everyday on my food groups,” she said. During the interview Miller proudly proclaimed, “I never gain weight.” Her work out regiment includes playing the Xbox kinect Dance Central game to break a sweat. “I just dance my tail off,” she joked.

Miller does not currently have an agent or agency; however she is open to representation. Miller has excellent communication skills. She’s very open to talk, patient, and friendly. On availability, there are no boundaries in Miller’s book. “Anytime-This is my DREAM!!!!!” She exclaimed. However, when it comes to client requirements there is a limit. “It depends on the assignment,” she said. Miller cherishes genuineness and honesty in her business relationships. “I like it when someone keeps it real.....I dislike when someone is fake.” She said.

This supermodel in the making believes her trademark is her smile. “I smile a lot and [people] tell me I am a beautiful person on the inside and out,” she said.

It’s been a pleasure to introduce you to Chasity Miller. I’ve had the pleasure of working with her in the past and I can vouch that she already is a star.

I've should have done my homework first!
I was requested by Shut Up & Read to review this book and give a honest review. I noticed it was only a little over one hundred pages, so I figured this will be a quick and fun read.

Ummm, about fifty pages in, I was so utterly confused. There were beings with mystical powers, Angels(??) I think, humans, previous incarnation flashbacks. All seemingly interesting but not composed systematically. I found myself questioning my motivation to finish this book. I had no idea how all this tied together or where the story was headed.

I'm not into mindless reading for the sake of giving some kind of review; so there was no way I was going to force myself to go through the motions of reading a story I wasn't feeling. Then I decided to read the synopsis. I don't normally read the whole synopsis prior; for fear that it'll contain spoilers. READ THE SYNOPSIS BEFORE READING THIS BOOK. It is seriously a must. (So scroll back up and read it if you skipped over it.) The synopsis is the legend for the entire book.

Needless to say, I had an "AHA" moment and decided to start over from the beginning. NOW it makes sense. This completely changed my view on the story. It's actually pretty good concept and over all story. However nothing is straight forward and in the end you're still left with a lot of questions.

She soon learns that she is the last known member of an elite race of supernatural Warriors, and is thrust into a world full of vampires and werewolves who all seem to regard her as some sort of savior. Meanwhile, Alexa battles a monster within herself that seeks to gain control; a monster that seeks blood.

The hidden city she finds herself in appears perfect, but Alexa's instincts tell her that all is not right within its walls. When she is asked to attend a school of fighters, whose exams consist of gladiator-style competitions, she must decide who she can trust among the smiling faces. And, when she meets Kayden, a vampire she feels undeniably drawn to, she must decide if she can trust herself.

This has been the best four days of my life. If not for work, it could have easily been reduced to hours. This was my very first e-book read on my very first e-reader and it did not disappoint. I’m talking 4.5-stars, but I'll round up to 5 for sites without a half scale.(I feel like being generous today.) Thanks to the good people over at Shut Up & Read for enthrusting me to give an honest review.

Every chance I got, my Nook was glued to my hands. I’ve never seen a vampire/lycanthrope story told like this. H.D. Gordon put a new spin on vampire culture creating species within the race and a gated society hidden within our world. Complete with ancient secrets, prophecies, and oppressed people and of course…a chosen one.

Who happens to be a very strong lead female, also known as, "kick ass heroine"!

In the beginning I was a little scared of being instantly turned off. The story starts with a seemingly abused teen girl living in a dysfunctional household and most ignored outcast of her high school. Then before you know it, WAM…..BAM……things get turned so far upside down, I didn’t know how I could have ever been fooled.

Alexa, her sister Nelly, and best friend Jackson flee this new world and that’s when the fun begins. We’re introduced to Kayden.

There’s a love triangle.

Seriously, a love triangle.

Clarification- a real love triangle where both men are great guys; and I don’t know who she’ll end up with.

My only complaint is I would have liked to see more romance and a little more fighting. However, there’s so much more awesomeness that I can explore that'll have you kicking in the library door and pillaging the mall, neighbors, family, and friends. *GASP* Just to get your hands on this, but that’s all I’m telling…..sorry. You'll have to just read the book. READ THIS BOOK NOW!

When one takes an artist from behind a canvas and then puts them in front of the canvas…Oh the magic one can create.

In this fourth installment of Dreamheart Spotlight, I was fortunate to get an interview with the artistic, versatile, and alluring, Malu. She began this path by chance when a friend asked her to model for her make-up artistry portfolio. Malu is a former dancer and singer with an eye for framing interesting pictures. This entertainer has found modeling to be an artistic outlet.

“I like contributing to beautiful photography,” she said, “I also found runway to be a type of performing. I certainly feel like I am taking on a role and playing off the audience's mood; it's fun!”

Malu has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and plans to pursue a master's degree in Music Therapy. “I'm not as interested in modeling as a career path as I am in it being an expression of art”, she said, “my favorite pictures are ones that tell a story, that evoke emotion in the viewer.”

In spite of not having former training and not represented by an agent, Malu still believes she’s fit for being a model. ” I am aware of how my body looks and what poses are good for creating certain lines. I am comfortable in front of a camera and on stage, and I think a successful model needs both.” Malu’s eyes have been called “exotic” and this feature sets her apart from other models.

Malu’s goals as a model include continuing to make art for fun with the hopes of more paid gigs and more runway shows. She aspires to model in commercial projects as that would be a new challenge. “There are so many great designers and I would love to contribute to their success by modeling their clothes.”

Malu does not have a strict diet, nor does she follow a rigorous work out routine. “I love food!” she exclaimed. Malu does yoga twice a week, but her primary method of physical activity is, surprisingly, work. “I am on my feet a lot as a server and I feel like I get a decent upper body workout lifting heavy plates all day long!”

Malu is frequently available to model locally and she is willing to travel a few hours from where she lives with ample notice.

Of course I kissed him back. My entire body had lost its musculature, and I became flooded with pure desire, physically in capable of pulling away. Not that I wanted to pull away. Either the bartender turned on the music or my imagination decided to provide a soundtrack as Billie Holiday began to croon “You’re My Thrill.”
Was he ever. The kiss was so heated and seemed to go on for so long that when we finally stopped, I was surprised to discover the ice in my drink hadn’t melted.
“What was that for?” I said.
“I thought it would decrease the tension.”
